he Appel-Dionne Lab at Stanford University is designed to make a new generation of hydrogels based on abundant natural materials such as cellulose and colloidal silica. Hydrogels are versatile because their ingredients can be formulated to provide varying degrees of stiffness and porosity, making them ideal for many applications from advanced healthcare solutions to manufacturing. Gordon Prill worked with the Department of Engineering to design and build-out this new 2,500 sq. ft. wet and dry materials lab for Assistant Professors of Materials Science Dr. Eric Appel and Dr. Jen Dionne.
