Mid-Senior Level Mechanical Engineer

Gordon Prill, Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable Mid-Senior Level Mechanical Engineer with a 5-10 years of experience to participate on a full-service design team on complex industrial and technology projects from inception through construction documents. This person will be part of a team of in-house professionals including architects, mechanical and electrical engineers and construction managers. Salary will be commensurate with background and project experience.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years mechanical engineering design for industrial-commercial buildings

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering

  • Licensed California Mechanical Engineer preferred

  • LEED accreditation a plus

  • Strong production skills using AutoCad

  • Experience with Revit/BIM a plus

  • Strong skills with MS Word, Excel, Access and Project

  • Knowledge of current California Building, Mechanical and Plumbing codes and Title 24 requirements is essential

  • Must have mechanical engineering design experience for industrial facilities, labs, clean rooms and data centers involving HVAC, chillers, boilers, plumbing, process piping and utility distribution for campus wide facilities.

  • Must be able to work independently and provide all mechanical engineering, design and CADD work necessary as the project engineer for the project.

  • Strong teaming skills required to coordinate work with in-house design team

  • Strong presentation and communications skills to coordinate with client management and end-user representatives

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of electrical engineering design experience for industrial building projects.

  • BS in electrical engineering

  • Licensed engineer in California

  • LEED accreditation highly recommended

  • Strong production skills using AutoCAD mandatory

  • Experience with Revit/BIM a plus

  • Experience with SKM/Etap software a plus

  • Strong skills with MS Word, Excel, Access and Project

  • Knowledge of current CalGreen, Title 24, CEC and local building codes is essential

  • Must have electrical engineering design experience for industrial facilities, labs and clean rooms involving substations, generators, load analysis for equipment and tool installation, lighting, communications and electrical distribution for campus wide facilities

  • Knowledge of short circuit / coordination / arc flash and use of SKM and/or ETAP software

  • Strong teaming skills required to coordinate work with in-house design team

Entry Level Positions for Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Designers 

Openings for Entry Level Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Designers to participate on a full-service design team on complex industrial and technology building projects from inception through construction documents. This person will be part of a team of in-house professionals including architects, mechanical and electrical engineers and construction managers. We are looking for exceptional people who have just graduated or who have 1-3 years of experience with building design who are motivated to learn more and develop their careers.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Planning to pursue a California license in their field

  • E.I.T. a plus

  • Familiarity with AutoCad  

  • Familiarity with Revit/BIM a plus  

  • Strong skills with MS Word, Excel, Access and Project 

  • Ability to read blue prints

  • Candidates must have good writing and verbal skills

  • Mechanical candidates will be assisting with the design of HVAC, chillers, boilers, plumbing, process piping and utility distribution systems for campus wide facilities.  

  • Electrical designers will be assisting with the design of electrical systems for commercial and industrial facilities including substations, building power distribution systems, lighting and lighting control systems, emergency/standby and cogeneration generator systems, uninterruptible power systems, building controls and life safety systems.

CAD/BIM Specialist

This position will be a member of the design team to provide CAD/BIM support to in-house Architects, Engineers and designers. The role will work closely with project teams to develop and implement BIM models, create project startup methods and formulate a workflow strategy. It requires that candidates have a minimum of 5 years of experience. Strong AutoCAD and Revit experience is a required. Duties include:

Requirements:

  • Provide production CAD/BIM support (Revit/AutoCAD) to in –house Architects and Engineers

  • Develop, implement and enforce CAD/BIM Standards, and file organization

  • Provide leadership and vision to the firm in the area of CAD and BIM

  • Develop and implement firm’s transition to Revit

    • Create/modify Revit families across multiple disciplines

    • Manage and build Revit libraries

    • Develop BIM Standards including BIM Execution and Implementation Plans

    • Responsible for model coordination including clash detection and Navis works

    • Facilitate internal training

  • Organize the CAD/BIM environment

  • Interact on project standards coordination with clients

  • Provide training and supervision of in-house CAD/BIM users

  • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions

  • Manage CAD/BIM vendor licenses and installations

  • Supply technical support for all CAD/BIM software

  • Maintain CAD/BIM software inventory

  • Maintain CAD/BIM document archive and retrieval for projects

  • Archive completed projects

  • Primary point of contact for client CAD/BIM interface and data collection, outside reprographic services, and software licensing

  • Order & maintain print & plotter supplies

  • Customize CAD/BIM programs and pen/plotting settings

  • Project Record Drawings and Closeout

    • Review, understand and adhere to client CAD/BIM standards

    • Collect and submit Project Closeout documentation

    • Incorporate Contractor Redlines into CAD/BIM files

    • Cleanup CAD/BIM files for project closeout

    • Finalize CAD/BIM files for project closeout

    • Submit closeout document package to Clients
